Renal structural changes in the kidney with aging: with emphasis on glomerulosclerosis
Keywords:
Glomerulosclerosis. Nephrosclerosis. Aging. AtrophyAbstract
It is known that the aging process entails, in most individuals, a series of structural and functional changes in different organs and systems. As in the renal system, it is recognized that these changes tend to be the same as those observed with the presence of some chronic systemic diseases, so determining the line that divides the pathological and physiological status becomes important. In this article we will discuss the different changes that the aging process causes in the renal morphology that ultimately lead to glomerulosclerosis, intervening in a schematic form on the different structures that make up the system in macroscopic and microscopic form.
