It may be that reading the title of this editorial makes you feel uncomfortable or wrinkle front because in reality it is a statement that is not only direct; it is very strong and very true.
In the area of forensic science (as well as in most all sciences) it is incongruous to make discoveries and not publish them, and I mean publish them without the ultimate purpose of obtaining renown or recognition, or academic or professional career points; we must publish because what is not shared ... is lost.

The intellectual property of accepted works belongs to their authors, however access to them is totally open and free, so they can be reproduced totally or partially with the only limitation of recognizing the authorship and the source of publication (Revista Medicina Legal de Costa Rica), as long as said exploitation does not have commercial character.
