Abstract

Mondor’s disease is characterized by superficial thrombophlebitis of the thoracic epigastric veins, but can be located elsewhere. Mainly it affects women and manifests clinically as a subcutaneous indurated cord with abrupt onset. Its etiology remains unclear and predisposing factors in trauma, excessive physical activity, breast surgery, breast cancer, and infections are mentioned. The diagnosis is mainly clinical and can be confirmed by ultrasound. Within the recommended treatment NSAIDs, antithrombotic and anticoagulant therapy in the early stages of the disease.
